Chromium-C Additive

It has been determined that the presence of chromium promotes the up-take of Calcium by corals, in addition to being a necessary nutrient. Greater uptake of calcium means growth and also prevents polyps coming loose from their skeletons. When corals can precipitate more calcium carbonate inside the calice they remain attached firmly.

Just as the presence of phosphate inhibits uptake of calcium (by forming calcium phosphate), chromium enhance the uptake (MegaNutrients, 1992). This is a fact that has only been brought to the public attention with more detail in recent years and TAT is now expanding its use to the hobby, as corals need plenty of bioavailable calcium as we well know.

Although salt and additives may contain chromium in inorganic form, the unfortunate fact is that inorganic compounds are not very efficient when it comes to absorption and utilization. If we are going to try to ensure that our corals have a maximum chance of survival and grow, we should certainly attempt to administer the better forms of nutrients we can.

Based on studies conducted on animals and humans, the form of any nutrient with the highest absorption rate is the colloidal form (refs: Willner, 1994 and Prevention Magazine). In fact the difference is not minimal, it is dramatic. Reports indicate that inorganic compounds have an average uptake of between 10 and 20 percent, whereas colloidal ones have an uptake of over 85 percent.

This is another first by TAT : Chromium-C, the colloidal form of Chromium. Bringing you the additives your corals need in the form they can best utililze and absorb.

Chromium-C comes in liquid form and is added to tank based on the load. The higher the load the more frequent the addition needs to be. In heavy loads every day, in medium loads every other day and in low loads twice a week.

Now available in 4 oz and in 16 oz fluid sizes. The product does not need to be refrigerated. Labels indicate the batch number. Shelf life is over one year. No additives what so ever. Chromium-C is a clear liquid.
