How to subscribe and unsubscribe to/from our Mailing List
Revised on November 11, 2001KEEP A COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT SO THAT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE CHANGES OR LEAVE LISTS,
YOU KNOW HOW TO DO SO. DO NOT POST TO THE LIST WHEN YOU WANT TO LEAVE.
PLEASE PLEASE KEEP A COPY OF THIS MESSAGE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.
We offer a mailing list called reefkeeping
(reefkeeping-discuss@lists.athiel.com).
The list is available in "Individual Message Form", or as a twice-daily "Digest"
To Join in Individual Message Form
- Simply send an empty email message to
reefkeeping-discuss-subscribe@lists.athiel.com
- If you join in Individual Message Form, each message will be sent to you as
soon as it is sent to the list. These lists can generate a large volume
of mail! Don't subscribe in Individual Message Form unless you are
prepared to handle an additional 20-50 messages per day in your
mailbox!
- Make sure you are sending from the email address that you wish to receive the
messages.
- The list software will send you an email asking you to confirm that you
really want to join the list. Typically, all you need to do is hit "REPLY"
in your mail client and send the message to confirm your intentions.
To Join In Digest Form
- Simply send an empty email message to
reefkeeping-discuss-digest-subscribe@lists.athiel.com
- If you join in Digest Form, you will receive a single message twice
each day (at noon and midnight) that contains a table of contents and all of the messages sent to the
list in the preceding twelve hour period.
- Make sure you are sending from the email address that you wish to receive the
messages.
- The list software will send you an email asking you to confirm that you
really want to join the list. Typically, all you need to do is hit "REPLY"
in your email client and send the message to confirm your intentions.
You may join in Individual Message Form, or Digest Form, or both,
by sending messages to the appropriate request addresses. Subscribing
to the DIGEST for a list DOES NOT unsubscribe you from the Individual
Message Form for that list!!!
To Leave a list (Unsubscribing)
Send an empty email message to one of the following addresses:
For the
Individual Message Form:
reefkeeping-discuss-unsubscribe@lists.athiel.com
For the Digest Form:
reefkeeping-discuss-digest-unsubscribe@lists.athiel.com
The list software
will send you an email asking you to confirm that you really want to leave the
list. Typically, all you need to do is hit "REPLY" in your email client
and send the message to confirm your intentions.
Other Notes
- If you have any questions, please send email to albert@athiel.com. Do not post to the lists if you have questions please. Thank you.
- NEVER send messages that have attachments! Also turn off the HTML features of your email program as many people still receive plain text mail because of the email program they use. They cannot get HTML and message come with all the code which makes them very hard to read.
- DO NOT send messages to the list to unsubscribe. If you do, the list
software won't see the request, and people will get angry with you. Send them to the
appropriate list address as detailed above.
- To post to the list you need to send email to
reefkeeping-discuss@lists.athiel.com
No longer getting mail from the lists?
This can happen when the mail server sends you email and messages bounce back to us for whatever reason. The
list manager will continue for a while to try and send you mail but will eventually
remove you from the list. This entire process takes about 2 weeks.
If you do not receive mail and you were subscribed, this is probably what happened. All you need to do in this case is
re-subscribe as directed above.
The key is to make sure that your mailbox not does get full! That causes messages to bounce and
can cause suspensions!
Important This is an unmoderated list and we kindly ask you to be courteous and not use vulgarity. If you do we will warn you and if you persist we will remove you from the list. Please read the List Rules for Posting so you know what you can and cannot do and how you should adhere to netiquette. It is important to read these rules. Please do so. Thank you.
We do NOT allow spamming and flaming !!
